FAQs

We have put together a handy list of our most frequently asked questions to help you with any initial queries. If you still can't find an answer to your query, please feel free to drop us a message via the contact page.

A. Once you have browsed the suppliers or our work and decided on all the parts please send me an email detailing the build and we can provide a quote for parts and labour.

A. A full build with Cerakoting can take up to 4 weeks from the point of ordering the parts to the completed watch. Smaller jobs like sapphire crystal replacement and battery changes can usually be turned around in a couple of days once we have the parts.

A. Please use special delivery tracked, insured and signed for. Package the watch well but don’t use lots of tape around the watch itself as we have to use a blade to get it off. Please include a note in the package saying who the watch is from.

A. Yes all of our work is fully guaranteed for 12 months after completion date. The gurantee covers materials and workmanship. This excludes damage from misuse, accidental damage and impact damage. In the very rare case of water damage (we have not had a watch back for water ingress!), this will be assessed on a case to case basis. There are too many variables and we will need to test the watch before opening to see if the water has entered through a faulty component or from misuse.

A. Cerakote™ is the world's leading thin film Polymer-Ceramic Composite coating. It enhances a number of physical performance properties including abrasion/wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness. It is available in a whole host of colours and finishes and although originally developed for the firearms industry in the US it makes an excellent coating for watches and many other items.

A. Although very durable and resistant, just like any coating it can be damaged with heavy abuse. We have tested many Cerakoted watches on the wrist for over 12 months before offering it as a service and are very impressed with the performance. If you have a coated watch our advice is to treat it as such and not as a beater!

A. A lot of Sekio watches ship with the 7S family of movements which are automatic but lack hacking and hand winding functions. This can be upgraded to the Seiko SII NH or NE family of movements which add these extra features. The NE movements have a longer power reserve and slightly better positional accuracy too. You will more than likely need a new crown/stem to work the new movement too. Contact us to find out more.

A. Most standard Seikos ship with their proprietary 'Hardlex' mineral glass. While this is great it can scratch easily. Sapphire crystals cannot be scratched. With a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, sapphire can only be scratched by diamond.

A. There are many different styles of sapphire crystals available for your watch. From single domed to double domed and flat to vintage style top hat. The choice will depend on your personal preference and what bezel and insert combination you want. Contact us to find out more.

A. A single dome crystal is only domed on the top side with the underside being flat. This will give some optical distortion at angles due to refraction. Some people want this feature as it is quite faithful to the vintage divers. A double dome is domed on the underside as well as the top side and gives no distortion when viewing at angles.

A. AR coating stands for Anti-Reflective Coating. It is applied to the the crystal to reduce glare and reflections. The crystals we use have the coating applied to the underside only as it can be scratched off if it is applied to both sides making the crystal look a mess!

A. Payments can be made via PayPal or bank transfer. For parts deposits we ask for bank transfer as PayPal charge our business account 5%. If PayPal is the only available payment method then 5% will be added to all parts orders.

A. All parts and watch orders are final and we do not offer refunds.

A. We only ship via insured, tracked and signed methods. The carrier will depend on where you live but we use Royal Mail Special Delivery where available.
